My Experience
My name is Carolyn and I have a BA(Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have worked in education for over 10 years, mainly focusing on behaviour and mental health.
I now work as a school counsellor within a secondary school setting, regularly working with presenting issues such as anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), anger and self-harm.
I also work as a Counselling Tutor in a college, teaching the subject to students.
I feel that it’s important for the healthy development of a child to have a safe space where they can feel heard.
Continuous Development
As a therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am required to complete a certain amount of ‘Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours each year. To do this, I regularly take part in CPD courses in order to stay up-to-date with current research and information regarding counselling for children and adolescents. Below I have listed some of my most recent and relevant courses:-
- Self-Harm awareness
- Disordered Eating
- Recognising Anxiety
- Children’s mental health
- Loss and Bereavement
- Supporting bereavement from suicide
- Emotionally Based School Avoidance
- Safeguarding for children
I am fully DBS checked and insured
